I spoke to the manager and she was nasty. I have had good experiences at several Ollie's and highly recommend them, but not this one. A few of the employees were unpleasant here, but the manager on the dock was very rude. She snatched the paperwork from me and was just nasty. Avoid this place, she is toxic to delivery people and her employees.
Note: the check out counter can be a lengthy process. Sometimes they will have only one or two registers open. Don't go in thinking you'll just run in and run out. Their registers seem to be the hold up - lots of errors that pop up as the items get scanned that they have to manually override or correct.
It is difficult to check out. Lines are long, painfully slow. They are slow to open more checkouts. Expect to spend more time waiting to pay than your actual shopping.
I surmise that we are now done with the Lafayette Ollie's.
Be aware that prices on items may not match data in the register. We were at our car before I found that we had been overcharged. Then, once again we stand in line to correct the error.
Going to Ollie's is always an adventure - the thrill of the bargain hunt! The deals are good, and the turn around on products is pretty quick. So if you see something you want, scoop it up, cause it might not be there next week. Which actually makes this a fun place to shop because every time you visit there is something new to see. Their book prices are AMAZING! I get hardcover books for $3.99 (and not obscure titles by never-heard-of-authors printed 10years ago) by some of my favorite authors of titles printed in the last 3 years. You name it, Ollie's has it. Although, don't go in expecting to find everything on your shopping list. Some weeks they have laundry detergent, other weeks zip-o-la. Keep an open-minded and an open shopping list. Everything is varying in brands and quality, so be an informed shopper when you're browsing and buying. Also, the Ollie's in house advertising is hilarious and always keeps my husband and friends entertained. The staff at Ollie's are friendly and eager to answer questions.
One star is too many.
Mostly friendly staff. Prices are okay -- not amazing bargains and many things are cheaper on Amazon for this being an overstock store. That said, you can occasionally find a good bargain. They have a good selection of books and household cleaning supplies. I'll buy the coffee pods from here or Big Lots, but I avoid most of the other food.
Didn't have exactly what I was looking for, but still found some good deals.
Today, I stayed in the car while my wife shopped, I was surprised when she came back 40 minutes later with nothing. She explained that ultimately, she abandoned her cart in the long line at checkout and elected to buy nothing.
