BEWARE!! This is the most unprofessional sewing shop in Lafayette. Took a $300 bridesmaid dress in to be hemmed & taken in around the chest. The dress was supposed to be done the Tuesday before the wedding (wedding was that Saturday). Got the dress back Thursday night-after another bridesmaid asked about the dresses- SMELLING LIKE SMOKE! The hem was awful & ended up coming apart during the wedding. After being upset about the dress all weekend, I left a review on her Facebook page only to receive a nasty voicemail about how it was my fault that I paid so much for a bridesmaid dress. She continued to tell me that I was lying & the dress was perfect. She charged $60 for terrible work! I do not recommend this shop.
I would not recommended this lady to family and friends. I spoke with Susan and set up an appointment for 2 weeks out for bridal alterations and flower girl alterations. She canceled last minute due to personal and family matters. This I completely understood and we rescheduled for the next week. We meet up the following week, however she arrives to the appointment late. She pins the flower girl dress, but tells me she won't start any of the work on my dress because we didn't have a particular item that I had request. At this point I was starting to become frustrated since I thoroughly explained to her what I was needing done ahead of time and she never told me that I need to provide let alone bring this particular item myself to the appointment. It was a standard alterations addition I figured she kept in stock for use with the business. But I put my frustration aside and scheduled yet another appointment with her for nearly a month out. She did not have any time sooner because of more personal/family matters she had going on, and she told me that if I did not feel comfortable waiting that long for her to get back in to town she understood if I went somewhere else. So I took both dresses back home with me and agreed to bring them back for her to start working on them when we met back up to pin my dress. The night before this third meeting I texted her to make sure we were still able to meet. When she responded she told me she needed to meet with me earlier in the day, but would not tell me an actually time. So I call her the next morning and set up a time to meet. Later that morning she texts me wanting to reschedule our appointment again. Her excuse was that yet another personal matter popped up she had to attend to first. At this point I was frustrated with the back and forth and decided I need to go look somewhere else for someone more reliable. I texted her and politely told her that I appreciated her time, but that I would go ahead and take my alterations somewhere else so she had more time freed up to take care and focus on herself and her family. Then came the real big issue. She called me to yell at me, insult me, and call me rude. This was completely unacceptable and not the right way to run a business. Anyone interested in using her for any clothing work beware!
Susan gets a great recommendation from me. She was personable and helpful during the fitting. She had my pants hemmed and let out by the next day. She also let me decide what was best for my alteration, not pushing any extras. Her service and work impressed me, and I will continue to take my clothing to her business.
I highly recommend Susan's Sewing! She is a great business owner who takes great pride in her work. I take all my officiating gear there and its done in a timely manner or faster. The quality is perfect, and looks great. The prices are very fair. Thanks Susan!
