In short: do you love wondering thru a 100 year old home-turned showroom and thinking how cool it'll look to have a shiny babygrand for your guests can gawk at even though it'll never get played? You might like Northside! Do you love playing piano? I regret I have to advise you stay well clear.
Great place to find a quality piano. Price is on the high side and great service.
Recently, I visited the store in search for a piano for my home, and I was greeted with much friendliness and care. Even though they were getting ready to close for the day, they spent additional time talking with me and showing me all the different varieties of pianos. I felt no pressure to purchase but received honest and thorough information.
In long: notice the other reviews and their dates, Northside must be thankful to have some 5 star reviews to balance out the negative reviews (if those truly are unbiased reviews). Because this has to be the strangest most awkward place I've ever been. As other reviewers stressed, don't bother calling even for a simple opinion on pianos. If you somehow decide to stop, be prepared. Everyone I've interacted with at Northside seems to be in their own little world. They would be better writing in C++ than interacting with more than one person per week. I quite agree with the other reviews on John. I imagine he believes the government controls the weather. But that's just me and my weird brain.... This place operates out of a charming showroom with a "Piano Sale" always on and a 'maid' who has to let you in. I don't know any other place like this. Mercedes-Benz of Lafayette lets you and your kids paw all over their $100,000 inventory. But Northside makes you ring a doorbell, wait sometimes a good while, then they'll open the door and look at you like it's 3am. I've actually been asked "what do you want?" Yeah I'd like a Beefy Frito Burrito.... OH! you sell pianos! Sorry, I thought you were Taco Bell. I wish I could say it is worth the wait and attitude. Rather you'll find yourself in a pawn shop/museum. They got a large selection (4-5000 pianos I've been told repeatedly) and aren't too stupid with prices. However no bargains, there are some pretty pianos to stick in a big house for an impression of sophistication but little a piano player would get excited about. I want to support small business America as much as my dad. I say that having purchased quite a substantial piano from Northside after a good year shopping between Chicago and Indianapolis. But after dealing with Northside and their "tuning services" I am writing this more for you perspective piano buyers. I'd like to hope Northside reads this too and fixes up their act. But we all know better than to get carried away with fantasy. After some 6 years dealing with Northside only because they claim our Kawai's warranty will go void if we switch (need to check into that) I don't think 1 star is unfair at all. There is zero reason to use Northside. If you need a piano: craigslist, Schertz Musicenter in Bloomington, IL, Meridian Music (Indy), etc, there are accessible options with quality inventory, smart salesmen, and intuitive professional opinion. If you need a digital piano: eBay, Amazon, craigslist, Sam Ash, Guitar Center. Again, I'd really like to give these guys 5 stars and feel good about local business. But nope. I wouldn't even mind dealing with the pompous attitude if they gave good service. Again, no. Their unfortunate amateur sent to tune my black baby admitted he didn't know how to fix a noisy hammer which continually made a 'tink' noise when striking the strings. What's up with that Northside? You remember how many big ones we spent? You're confident your tyke-in-training has skills to work on a piano a good 5x the cost of the others he's servicing? Not to mention you charge $50 for a little 20 minutes work - $50 for a kid who admits he doesn't have the necessary skills, doesn't do a complete job, and to top it off you send another such freshman the next couple of tunes. I think I'm making myself clear but in case I'm not: a few years ago Purdue University switched out Northside for another company. Northside please get your act together - provide the piano services with a professional attitude that makes your customers eager to leave reviews without any hints of your pandering to hide your problems.
This company has been tuning and servicing my pianos over the last 10 years+. Their customer service and care has been one of a kind. It is a family owned and operated business and one that genuinely cares about you instruments. Would highly recommend!!!

Stay away from this company!! They gave me a quote to move a piano(Richard), then when I called back,to complete the move, price went up $147.00 dollars!! The lady that Richard put on the phone, said " Richard works in the shop, his job is repair, not quotes" Beware!!! Would have given Zero star review, but you cant post without one star!!!
I have appreciated them tuning our piano at Turning Pointe Academy each year, and they are very friendly and thorough.
