Don't spend $$ there............

This was probably the most disgusting pet store ever seen in my life. I drove all the way from Kokomo to take a look at the pet rats that were available. I was looking for females and there were only two females available on the floor. A store employee took me to the back room to see if there were any female babies available. What I saw was shocking! There were two dead, decaying rats and another rat in the process of dying. It was buried in urine soaked bedding, slowly moving it's back legs. The employe didn't seem phased by this. She said, "Whoever worked Friday must not have taken them out." She then proceeded to show me a female baby from that same bin. I told her I didn't want to get a rat from a bin that had 3 dead rats in it. She said, "There are only two." The smell of ammonia in that back room was horrible. I heard many of the rats sneezing, clearly in respiratory distress. As I walked away, she walked out behind me. I asked her if she was going to remove the dead rats. She said yes, but returned to the register. I raise rats. There is no excuse for the level of filth in those bins. The rats clearly need antibiotics, regardless if they are for feeders or pets. There were a couple male rats on the floor that I may have considered purchasing until I saw the condition of your back room. With dead rats and the clear presence of respiratory disease, I would never bring anything from your store home to my own pet rats. As I left the store I could hear this female employee discussing what just happened with someone else.

I can't say enough about how amazing Buckles Feed Depot is! They have a very friendly and knowledgable staff, that are always willing to bend over backwards for their customers. The holistic food I buy there has improved my dogs health, made their coats shinier, decreased their bowel movements to one time a day, as they are retaining the nutrients rather than expelling the majority of them. I would never go to a Corporate Pet store again, bc they know me by name at Buckles and give me personal service. The owner is a great guy too!

Great place to shop for all your pet needs. They have a nice selection of birds, reptiles, rats, rabbits and ferrets. Don't forget to say hello I Marley (the stores resident

I really enjoy their selection and price on small animal supplies as few big box stores even have the variety they do. However, I was let down to see the cages that the small animals were kept in. Some cages were better cleaned and had more toys than others. They had a chinchilla this past summer that looked like he was starting to chew his fur because he was so bored since he only had one wood toy to chew on. As someone who owns chinchillas, they do need a lot of enrichment to keep themselves stimulated and happy. The staff do seem to care about the welfare of the animals, but a little extra knowledge and effort can go a long way to have healthy animals.

My friend just went there to buy some pet rats...
