Sometimes it's great, and sometimes it's definitely not. Some of the cooks have a habit of not cooking scrambled eggs enough, and they come out runny. I wish it was more consistent. Dinner food is usually good. Service is usually pretty great. We go at least once a month and have only had bad service once.
The Cracker Barrel Sampler is a little bit of a few of Cracker Barrel's most basic food items - ham, chicken and dumplings, and meatloaf.
As far as sides go, we have a rule that you don't go to Cracker Barrel and not get the Fried Okra. It is easily the best side on the menu. When they ask you what you want for your three sides, tell them you want fried okra for all three. You won't regret it.
The Campfire Chicken is half a chicken seasoned and steamed in a foil wrapping. It's a significant amount of food and it tastes like a pretty healthy meal all together. If you don't like bones, don't get this one.
Getting into the restaurant involves walking through a dangerous gift shop, the danger coming from the incessant begging of children wanting all of the neat trinkets to cancel out the great deal you got on your meal.
Always great comfort food. Service is always notch. The roaring fireplace is great on cold days or nights. Love the aroma of woodsmoke
The portions vary significantly between dishes. Some will be just enough to make you comfortable, and other dishes will have you packing a box to go.
Great restaurant chain to come to for some delicious comfort food at reasonable prices.
The interior of the restaurant is really nice, with a woody and old fashioned theme to the whole place. Consequently, noises reflect harshly off the walls and make it a very loud restaurant when full of people.
This location is homey and whimsical. The store part is pretty and interesting to walk through even if you have no intention of purchasing. The restaurant part is open, well-lit, busy and meticulously served and cleaned. A fireplace blasts heat from one wall which is lovely during this time of year and during slow mornings when the room is not being heated by the press of bodies. The menu is easy, reasonably priced and full of comfort foods you may want from home. The staff have always been kind, attentive and thorough in their service whether I dine alone or amongst a party. I often send my regards to the chef and recommend a star for my wait staff while checking out.
We stopped at this Cracker Barrel on our way back from Lafayette. It was great! Our waitress was really on her game today, always smiling, quick to get our drinks and food and kept us in iced tea and lemonade. Our food was served hot and tasty. I had never had their Dressing before but since it is on their Monday menu I asked for it as one side. May I say, "Wow"? I think they borrowed my recipe. All in all, both thumbs up and two very happy customers!
