Dr Brkaric has been very kind and reassuring throughout my whole journey. He pinpointed my issue the first day I walked into his office. Tried to go without surgery initially but had to have PLIF/PSIF. I have been recovering well. My pain that I had been having prior to surgery was completely gone immediately that day after surgery. I would definitely return for other needs in the future. Took time with me and answered all my questions.
I had a microdisectomy done by Dr. Brkaric for a herniated disc in 2015. I was still in bed on painkillers 3 months post operation, never fully recovered and reherniated it in 2016. There were red flags from the beginning - whenever asked how long recovery would take, he said numerous times "it's different for everyone", and never gave a specific timeline for when I should've recovered. After 3 months of still being in major pain, I called in to get another prescription refill. The nurse *over the phone* told me that Dr. Brkaric would not see me anymore and he was referring me to a pain specialist. He's the type of Dr. that does not seem to genuinely care about his patients, he's very egotistical, had terrible bedside manner, and was annoyed when asked even basic questions. I continued with him because of an insurance situation and hoped for the best, but I've regretted getting surgery from him ever since. I just had a laminectomy through a specialist in Indianapolis at Ortho Indy three days ago and I am up and walking around with few painkillers. My current Dr. cares about my progress, has given me a specific timeline for recovery (4-6 weeks), has given me his personal phone number in case I need to reach him immediately and has already made a world of difference in my life. Beware of Brkaric and do research on doctors in the bigger cities where there are plenty more choices and doctors that are guaranteed to be 100x better than people like Brkaric.
