5. Two ceiling fans were hanging by the electrical cords. They informed us they would fix them when we moved in. Again, we moved out with the two fans still broken.
Unfortunately, I wanted to like June Palms as their personnel are generally very kind in person and on the phone; however, their actions (or rather inaction and disregard for good communication) were louder than their words causing us to never want to rent from them again and warn others about our experience with June Palms. They never went out of their way to help and, in my opinion, did not even accomplish appropriate landlord duties.
I hope for all involved that these issues will be addressed and altered so tenants are properly cared for and treated fairly.
Although renting, we treat the rental as if it is our own; so thankfully, the security deposit was decently paid back...not enough for me to fight them on it.
2. The day we moved in there were three broken window panes in the living room and master bedroom. We asked numerous times for them to fix it including the day we moved in. By December, they said it was too cold to fix and they would wait until spring. When we moved out in July, the window panes were still broken. Our utility bill was outrageous.
Maintenance rarely came in the time frame discussed. The time they installed the locks they arrived on a completely different day than scheduled without any communication and it took majority of the day. June Palms also struggles with communication. I often received an apology and explanation that they were short staff members. To me, that was a sign they had too many properties and not enough personnel to properly attend to their current tenants.
3. We were told we would have a working garage with a remote. They came and fixed the garage allowing it to open manually, but never replaced the garage door opener.
So as I jump online to call to make my payment I see a lot of negative reviews. - Didn't fix appliances? Hmmm... They were quick on our end. Didn't paint before you moved in? You should of simply asked and sure they would have. Didn't give you back your deposit when someone who was attached to the lease is still renting? That's still a deposit and between you two not June Palms... Anyways I love working with this company! Customer service poor???!!! I completely beg to differ on that one! Really they have had one of the best customer services out there & Ive been renting for over 10 years. Jamie & Jennifer are two lady's that are amazing with customer service!!! They don't talk to you like they only await your payment, they conduct themselves as professional individuals who truly care to help & care about you! So anyone who is looking into this company as a potential tenant I urge you to look at the positive reviews over the negative! Their team is amazing & upfront. When we moved in they were upfront about things needing to be fixed & we are still in the process yet they also were able to help my family. They sent a birthday card, a get well soon card when my daughter was hospitalized & truly went out of their way to "care" I have never received cards from ANY company I rented from except my parents who were landlords and they don't count, as they are family. I give 5 stars all around for this company who honestly works to provide the best customer care, honesty, nice homes & creates relationships with tenants. They remember who you are. Truth is I have only reviewed 2 homes with the "most stars" on a review and this is 1 out of 2. I urge anyone wondering if they should look into June Palms homes to do just that! Good luck in your journey & God Bless! Thanks again lady's for all you do! You are appreciated! - Melissa Glasson
4. It took a week to fix the fridge when it broke. Thankfully, it was during the winter so the snow helped to keep our food cold.
Quick Review/Summary: I wanted to like June Palms as the personnel were generally kind; however, their lack of follow through on projects along with little communication caused quite a bit of frustration and excess expenses when renting the home. Although an old home, our utility bill was significantly higher than expected since three broken window panes were never fixed during the year long lease. Many other issues (see below) forced us to leave after the lease ended and suggest to others to refrain from using June Palms.
Renters beware!!!! Do not rent from them!!!! Wish I could give them zero stars. Put down a $1000 dollar security deposit and owed money when we moved out. They told us they were flexible and willing to end our lease early because we would only be living in the state 10 months but they lie. Never put a work order in, they charge $55 dollars an hour for anything. Charged us for wiping dog hair off the washer glass. Never fixed things in the house that were broke when we moved in. Will cut your grass for $95 without your consent. Will do anything they feel is needed without your consent. Worst mistake my husband and I have ever made is renting with June Palms.
June Palms was a pleasure to deal with! Sure, they made mistakes, but they always owned them and made great effort to correct them.
1. It took a month and a half to get keys to the front door. Not only did we not have the keys, we were told they didn't know who did have them which to me was a big security issue. They finally came and put a new lock in the door after our persistent requests.
I happened to be in the office one day when a former renter of theirs came in, (a grown man) with his mother, angry because June Palms had charged him for painting and various other items. He was extremely rude to the ladies in the office, calling them names, yelling and insulting them. The office staff handled the situation very professionally. They offered to help me first so that they could speak with him & his mother discreetly, he insisted that he be heard immediately.
Complete Review:
We moved into the property and loved the house; however, there were some maintenance issues that we were informed would be taken care of quickly. Most issues were not dealt with in a timely manner, if at all. Below are a few of the issues we experienced:
So... They kindly, but directly explained why he had been charged for the damages (in my opinion, it made sense he would be responsible, I wont go into detail..) and then the man and his mother BOTH verbally attacked the staff in the office!!! Yes, at that point they told him that they would not tolerate his behavior and asked him & his mother to leave or they would contact LPD. Kudos to those young ladies for conducting themselves with such maturity and class!!! I wouldn't have been so gracious.
