Server went the extra mile when he didn't have to. Will definitely be back! Context: I was looking for a quick dinner bite and found El Rodeo. I was sat and tended to quickly. They looked a little understaffed, but the servers were working hard juggling multiple tables. I ordered a specialty taco salad with chicken. I received the food in about 7 minutes, which was impressive with how busy they were. My order was wrong. I received beef, but I was hungry and didn't really care that much about the mixup. I ate the food anyway. The server came and took my near-empty plate, but returned with a to-go box full of food. He said he noticed the cook gave me beef when I ordered chicken. Unprompted, he apologized for the mixup and gave me the correct order to take home with me. I didn't bring this to his attention. He could have let me walk out, and truthfully I was hungry and didn't care, otherwise I would have let him know. But... the fact he went out of his way to make it right showed me they care about their customers. I will be back. Service: 5/5 - Food: 4/5 - Casual Atmosphere: 5/5
Not bad. Waiter was very friendly. The salsa was spicy and pretty good. The chicken in the taco was well seasoned but was pretty dry. Enchillada was better. I'd eat here again.
El Rodeo has become a regular visit for me and my family. The wait staff is always friendly, the food is served surprisingly fast, and it's delicious. It's also a place where there's never a wait for a table, making it a great go-to option on a Friday or Saturday evening in Lafayette when so many places are crowded.
My only real issue -- and it's a minor one -- has to do with decor. It's simple, sparse, and a bit on the boring side (lots of paintings of Mexican vistas) but I can live with it in lieu of all the great things about the restaurant. Just know if atmosphere is important to you, you might want to look elsewhere. There IS a separate bar, though, which is a plus as there aren't too many other options on this side of town.

If your aim is delicious Mexican food served quickly and without the wait, and you don't mind the lack of atmosphere, you can't do much better then El Rodeo.
